We came to explore Lampung and visit Pahawang Island, which was lovely, then stayed at Akar Hotel in Lampung City. The resort atmosphere was nice, and I liked how clean and comfortable the room was. In the morning the water suddenly stopped. We told the staff, and they dealt with it straight away, explaining there had been a small issue and fixing it. The Sales staff member, Mr. Fadly Basalamah, also greeted and welcomed us so warmly. Thanks for the hospitality. We'd happily come back.

The lobby looked well kept, maybe renovated, and the hotel was clean. Breakfast was good too, and the pool water seemed good quality. My little girl loved swimming there. The first night in our room was quiet and pleasant. We stayed two nights with family. I wasn't expecting much from an older hotel, and the pool, patio, and room did look old and needed some minor maintenance. On the second night, three or four teenagers in the neighboring room were talking and playing loudly. I asked them calmly around 10 pm, but they ignored me. At 11:30 pm I tried calling reception from the room phone, but all I got was a busy tone, which was ridiculous. In the end I knocked loudly on their door and had to tell them to be quiet in a harsh tone.

After we were moved, the replacement rooms felt clean and, most importantly, didn't smell. The staff were very accommodating, and they left a nice fruit plate in each room. The new room still looked dated, though. In my earlier review, I said the whole hotel felt old, from the decor and furnishings to the rooms, and it could use a refresh. Our first room had weak hot water, a fridge that didn't work, a strange smell, and a bed that felt dirty.

The place itself is nice, but the service was terrible. The ballroom HDMI splitter was broken and there was no audio. Even after paying for a room, you still have to pay to use the tennis court. The receptionist said it costs 100 rupiah an hour. Water pressure in the room was weak too, and the hot water took ages to come through. I wouldn't recommend it if you want to use the facilities. What a shame.
