Bay Shore Hut's Lembongan

Our main problem was the cot situation, and it really affected how relaxing the stay was. I contacted the hotel several times before we arrived to check if the cot would suit our baby, but communication was poor compared with other Bali hotels we’ve used. The first cot was mouldy and dirty, with large holes and no mattress, just towels and duvets that didn’t seem safe for a baby to sleep on. The replacement was in the same poor condition. When I asked for another one, though I hated feeling like a nuisance, they said none were available. Our baby ended up sleeping and napping in bed with us, which wasn’t ideal because he’s very active and one of us had to stay beside him the whole time. After three days another cot became available. It was in better shape, but still had no mattress, so we couldn’t use it. We left a little early because a full week with the baby in our bed wasn’t relaxing. Then, after we’d left, we noticed the receptionist had charged us extra for the cot, despite being told it was free and all the trouble we’d had. Very annoying. They really need better cots and mattresses. Bring your own or consider renting one. There were plenty of lovely things about Bayshore Huts. The oceanfront setting is beautiful, and it’s a short walk to beaches that are great for swimming. Mushroom Bay and Hidden Beach were our favourites. The area has great restaurants, coffee shops, local spas and a chilled island feel. We liked it much more than the Jungutbatu area. The gardens are beautiful and maintained every day, and both pools were clean, peaceful and had good sunbeds and umbrellas. Breakfast had plenty of choices, and we enjoyed a couple of lunches and dinners at the restaurant. Staff were always friendly and played with our baby, even when he was upset and struggling with the heat. They warmed his food and adjusted dishes when we asked. The rooms and bathrooms were a little dated and could use a renovation or deep clean, though that wasn’t really an issue for us. Free port transfers, like some other hotels nearby offer, would be great too.

We came back for a second year and loved our stay again. The larger villa was well worth it, and I love the rustic feel and outdoor bathroom. There’s something special about showering in the sun or moon. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and work hard to make guests comfortable. From the pool and restaurant, the view over the water is amazing. The menu has expanded since last year and we enjoyed it. This was exactly the island escape we wanted. If you want a casual, comfortable stay, I highly recommend Bay Shore Huts.

Nyoman was especially helpful, arranging a snorkelling trip and driving us around the island. All the staff went out of their way to make the stay feel special. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we absolutely loved being here. I’d highly recommend it.

We’ve been to Lembongan five times, and our four nights at Bay Shore were among the most special stays we’ve had. The rooms are gorgeous, the food was great and there are two sensational pools. The staff do everything they can to make your stay effortless. We’ll be back.
