Agus was lovely and glad to help with advice about island activities. He also sorted me out with a scooter and a kettle for my morning coffee. The accommodation is close to the beach, with a beautiful pool, a well-kept garden, and everything very clean. The rooms are standard, though I missed having a hook to hang things on. There’s a main street nearby with lots of restaurants and places to shop, and breakfast is available at the adjacent warung. I’d definitely return and recommend it to friends.

Avoid this place. We booked a room with AC but arrived to find only a fan. It took a while to reach the owners; when we finally did, we politely asked to move to a room with the AC we’d paid for. They said all the AC units were broken and there were no other rooms. Instead of trying to sort something out, the mother and her drunk son insulted us, called us liars and “rubbish people,” and made us leave after 10 pm to find somewhere else. We stayed calm and as polite as we could, while they were the ones shouting at us. They were the ones lying, in our view. If working with paying customers makes you that unhappy, you should learn some basic manners and stop taking bookings for what you advertise online. I’ve traveled to many places around the world and worked in customer service for years, and I’ve never been treated like this. I’m a nice person and didn’t deserve it. I understand that Balinese people can feel overwhelmed by mass tourism, as we did too, but that’s no excuse to treat people this way.

I’ve stayed in lots of homestays, and this was the worst, even compared with cheaper places. The bedsheets and everything else were dirty, the water was salty, and there were ants everywhere. Within minutes, they had gotten all through my suitcase. I don’t normally sleep with AC, so that wasn’t an issue for me, but the room felt like an oven. I really wouldn’t recommend it.

The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, and the location is great. It’s directly across from what I think is the island’s best restaurant, and the beach is less than a minute’s walk away. I’d definitely come back.
