Songlambung Beach Huts

We booked a Bungalow through Booking.com after reading reviews. It looked nothing like the pictures, and it didn’t have the basic things you’d expect in a room, like tea and coffee facilities or a TV. Honestly, it seemed like no money had been spent on it since the 1970s. I’d give the room zero if I could. As empty nesters in our mid-50s, our advice is to avoid this place. Booking.com should check accommodation with their own eyes, not just cameras.

The setting is amazing: great views, nature, a beach you can swim at, and a good surf spot. That would earn five stars from me. But $100 was stolen from our room by the crew, and the owner/managers treated us unkindly and with contempt. The owner seemed unhappy every day, and we felt like intruders. There was nobody else at reception the whole time we were there. With a new manager or owner, it might be worth a visit. As things are now, I DO NOT recommend it ☹️.

The location is 10/10, which makes it a shame that this place has so much potential but feels like they’ve really cheaped out. For the price, I can’t complain too much. Still, the rooms and restaurant didn’t feel clean. We tried breakfast once, then went elsewhere. The room wasn’t sealed, so mosquitoes got in, and a heavy downpour left a lot of water inside. The pillows were extremely lumpy. We got just two top sheets, no blankets, and I was very cold because my partner runs hot and needs the air con on. The sheets had holes, and my pillowcase was stained. The pool towels were old and stained too. Staff didn’t seem as friendly as we’re used to in Bali. Manager Nick was rude and barely spoke to us, and we felt really unwelcome. Such a letdown for a place with this much potential.

We spent three nights here in March and found it fine. The place is a little run down, but the price and location are hard to fault. The sheets and towels mentioned in other reviews do need replacing. Nick was helpful and always happy to chat, though the other staff weren’t as much. We’d stay again. We really enjoyed walking along the cliffside to the main beach, as well as the local beach and surf. A neighbouring property is being built out, so the feel and popularity of this little beach are bound to change.
