The bay view was amazing, and the rooms were spacious and clean. The staff were kind, helpful, and professional. Breakfast was very good too. We also had a couples massage at their Spa, and they took such good care of us. Definitely recommend it!

Update: We’ve since found a nice room with working aircon through Agoda. We should have booked there from the beginning and would have avoided a lot of hassle. We booked eight days through Booking.com, which I think was a mistake. In my view, Booking.com guests get the very worst rooms, down in the basement. Ours looked onto a wall, had strangers walking past the window, and no curtains. The windows couldn’t be opened, and the air conditioning ran all night with no way to adjust it. The rooms were tiny, with one chair and no closets. The safe wasn’t fixed down and could easily be carried off. The management seemed completely overwhelmed and, to me, didn’t care. I can’t understand how the hotel got such a good rating. Don’t go there, at least not through Booking.com.

Fanny’s massage at their Spa was heavenly. The whole family got one that day, and I was so enthused. It was the best massage I’ve ever had. I wish she lived in my town. I’d definitely get another massage if I’m in Luwuk. My five stars here are for her excellent massage service. The receptionists and bellboy were kind and helpful, and the restaurant staff were very nice too. Compared with hotels and villa resorts in big cities like Makassar or Jakarta, I’d give the stay four stars overall. Compared with our experiences across Sulawesi, Swiss-Belinn deserves five. To compete with other excellent stays, though, this special hotel needs some updates. The cleanliness and repairs needed in the ground-floor reception bathroom, along with the lack of toilet paper and soap, made a terrible first impression.
