Hotel Taman Indah

I booked on a whim and was surprised by how big the room was for the price. I usually stay in capsule hotels when travelling solo around Java, and this room could easily fit two people. Even a 24" suitcase would be fine. It had a terrace and a chair outside, and the bathroom was super clean, but there was no hot water for showering. They gave me two small bottles of water, a small bar of soap, and two towels when I arrived. The receptionist was friendly, though I had to leave my ID as a deposit. The AC was loud, an old type I’d never used before, but apart from the noise it worked perfectly for me. It’s fairly close to the train station, and you can take Grab. I’ll definitely stay here again next time.

A clean, affordable room with AC that works well. Comfortable place to stop over while you're in Madiun.

The biggest issue for us was accessibility. One person in our group uses a wheelchair, and staff first insisted we carry her up three flights of stairs. Eventually sense prevailed and they gave her a ground-floor room. They also asked us on arrival to cancel our Agoda booking so they wouldn’t have to pay Agoda fees. Breakfast was completely inadequate, just gado gado and a small portion of rice. Two people in the group had upset stomachs afterward. The hotel is probably about 20 years old. It’s presented as tired but clean, but I wouldn’t stay again. There are many better hotel options in Madiun.

A great budget hotel in Madiun, one of the best.
