Almadera Hotel Makassar

The view from the window was awesome, with kubah 99 in sight, and breakfast was nice. The mung bean porridge stood out. The room was nice too, with everything working, including the AC, TV, and hot shower. There was a sajadah but no mukena. I may have picked a random room by mistake and ended up in a smoking room, which was rough because my nose is very sensitive. Nobody smoked in it on the second day, but it still smelled of cigarette smoke and I started feeling unwell. The shower drained very slowly. The water heater for drinks looked a bit rusty. There were no plastic bottles of mineral water in the room, but a dispenser was available in the hotel hallway.

I’m from east Java and was traveling with my family for an appointment in Toraja. We stopped over in Makasar, where I was looking for a suitable hotel. Almadera turned out to be one of the best hotels I’ve experienced with my family. The room was cozy and clean, with great views, and the hotel is near a shopping district and tourism objects. They provided complimentary items including coffee, a water heater, and a fridge. There was food service and free drinking water in the corridor too. The food was delightful, the service was great, and the hotel also runs a bus to the airport. I didn’t take any pictures of the hotel or room, but I’ll share the ambience nearby. I loved our stay, and I’ll come back here when I visit Sulawesi again!

They were renovating and rejuvenating the interior and furniture, which was a good thing. Still, we waited two hours at 4 pm for a room because they said it wasn’t ready yet due to New Year’s Eve. Breakfast was very simple and didn’t meet my expectations.

We had a nice six-day stay, with a pleasant environment close to the boulevard. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was good, though there wasn’t much variety. When we arrived, we were put in a smoking room even though we don’t smoke, and it wasn’t suitable for two people. The shower wasn’t working properly. We contacted the bali employee right away, and the next day we got a better, more spacious room with a nice view.
