The room was clean and in good shape, and the front desk, gym attendant, and housekeeping staff were all nice. The restaurant team, including the trainees, could use some work on hospitality. I didn’t see anyone smile, which stood out because the food itself was good.

The best part is the spot, right across from the Losari Beach promenade, with lovely views of the 99 Dome Mosque from the upper floors. The building looks a little dated, but everything works and it has a classic feel. Even a Deluxe Room has a bathtub, which you don’t often get at this price. The food was tasty, especially the coffee and traditional dishes, though there weren’t many main course choices. There’s a basic gym in the basement too. A comfortable stay in a great part of Makassar.

The breakfast has a nice spread and is presented well, with local pastries and locally brewed coffee. It leans toward local tastes, so anyone expecting the usual Western breakfast choices may not find what they want, but it’s a good chance to try local food. The photo is the view from my Club Room with a Sea View. Staff hospitality was a real highlight, especially at breakfast and the front office. They were genuinely focused on helping and finding solutions. The style may feel less familiar than what some guests know from Western cultures, but they made a real effort to meet my needs and exceed expectations. The public areas have top-notch amenities, and the location is among the best in town. My room showed its age, with some chipped paint on the windows, but it kept outside noise out very well. The air conditioning was very cold, which could be just right for guests used to colder climates. This is one of the best hotels in town, and I’d stay here again if I return.

I spent three nights here and never once got a hot shower. The first room’s Wi-Fi didn’t work, despite the claim of coverage in every room. After we moved, the second room barely had any water pressure, just a dribble. The third was better, but the water still wasn’t hot. For $170(Au) a night, I expected much more. I won’t come back, as I’m sure Makassar has cheaper places with better quality. Disappointing after seeing so many positive reviews.
