Hotel Sutomo

For the 140k we paid on Agoda, it was acceptable. The beds were clean and the sheets were good, and the lobby is nice, though it looks like it might have been nicer years ago. Our room smelled quite musty and had some black mold on the wall. The aircon wasn't very cold, but that didn't bother us. Still, fine for the price.

I updated my rating after speaking to the front desk about the sheets, towels, and pillows. She was super friendly and offered to find cleaner or better quality replacements. I also uploaded a new photo of the bedsheets. The location is great, check-in was smooth, and staff were very polite. There are two elevators, but only one was working. The TV worked and the picture was clear; the AC worked too, though it wasn't new or quiet. The room had a smell, but in Indonesia's humid climate I'm used to that, and it wasn't disgusting. The sheets seemed at least ten years old, maybe from when the hotel was built, though they had been washed. They had lots of stains and burns, and the pillows were very stained and dirty, though washed too. The walls and pictures were stained and needed wiping. There was gecko poo and peel on the walls, but geckos kill bugs, lol. At $22, it was okay, though I've had better in Indonesia. For what I paid, I expected a cleaner room. My ratings: hotel 5/5, room 2/5, service 5/5. Overall, three stars at best, but the staff are super friendly.

The staff are nice and the rooms are clean. There's a hot water maker with free coffee and tea, which is always a plus. The hot water worked, though I couldn't work out how to adjust the temperature; it was fine as it was. The TV has very few channels, and room service food costs twice as much as similar quality meals nearby.

It's small but nice, with a deluxe room wide enough for an extra bed. The room has a flat-screen TV, a tea and coffee table, free Wi-Fi, and clean linen. It's in the town area, within walking distance of local food stalls. Not too old, and affiliated with OYO.
