Losari Beach Hotel Makassar

We stayed from 15-17 July 2024. The staff were nice, but the rooms were filthy, dirty and damp. Nothing worked, including the lamps, Wi-Fi and telephone. The towels and bedding smelled so bad, like other people’s sweat, and it seemed they’d all been hand-washed. Street music and the cafe next door, which belongs to the same owner, made it noisy until 2:30am. We couldn’t leave because we’d paid in advance. I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

There’s a great atmosphere and the hotel is nicely decorated. I love this vintage place. The rooms are spacious and have lovely furniture, and the staff are wonderful. Thanks, Mr Steven. The one downside is street noise if your room faces the main road, since the windows don’t block sound well enough. If I come back to Makassar, I’m sure I’ll stay in Losari beach.

The location was the only thing I liked, and I won’t stay here again. The room was dirty, with hair, stains and dirt on the bedsheet. There were spider webs in both the room and shower room, the furniture was very old, and I wouldn’t dare sit on the cushions. I booked after seeing the hotel’s high Google review score of 4.1. Prices vary across booking sites, so if you decide to stay, check each one and ask the front desk for its best price.

The location worked for me, and the air conditioning was cool, but the service and upkeep were poor. I booked a deluxe room with breakfast for three nights, and the breakfast wasn't worth it. The staff were friendly, but that didn't make up for the problems. Traveloka said the room would have a refrigerator, but I was told it was broken. I had to ask the front desk for a kettle and slippers. The kettle was dirty, so I cleaned it myself. There was sticky gel on the mirror, and housekeeping left it there for days until I cleaned it myself. They also left dirty plates outside my door after telling me to put them there. They were still there past noon the next day. The towel was badly torn and nasty, and there was no hot water. The stairs were so narrow that you had to watch your step. The roof leaked onto the walls and floor, so keep your luggage safe at checkout or it could get wet and much heavier. Rainy season made a mess of the place. There may be other hotels with the same convenient location and better service and cleanliness, without having to ask for the basics.
