Unhas Hotel & Convention

Set within the Unhas campus, Unhas Hotel & Convention has a peaceful, green atmosphere that works well for business trips, academic visits, or a leisure stay. It’s also easy to reach local attractions, including cultural and natural landmarks. The setting feels calm while still being accessible. The staff were attentive, kind, and ready to help, which made the hospitality feel personal. Rooms are spacious and clean, with modern essentials, comfortable beds, and a workspace for keeping up with work. Dining includes tasty local and international food, and there are recreational spaces for relaxing. For a conference or a weekend away, it’s a comfortable place with a welcoming, home-like feel and polished hospitality.

This felt more like a guesthouse than a hotel. Cleaning the hallway in the morning was very noisy, the bed was uncomfortable, and the slippery tile floor felt dangerous. The food was terrible, fit only for dogs. There’s nothing around besides trees and motorcycles, and getting to the city takes a 30-minute drive.

The rooms are spacious, neat, and have fairly complete facilities. I also liked the quiet and the view over the park in the middle of Hasanuddin University. But service is the biggest problem. I’ve stayed twice, and both times my room order was changed. The receptionist seemed to say, “Take it or leave.” Breakfast was standard and a bit cold, and the location feels far from everywhere. The park, peaceful setting, and rooms are the good parts.

The lobby and convention room were nice, and I have no complaints about those. The stay itself was a bad first experience, though. I was there for my sister-in-law's wedding, which was scheduled to run until 2 PM, but I was told the room had to be checked out by noon. Even my sister-in-law, the bride, was surprised since the room was part of the wedding package. Maybe noon was the correct checkout time, but nobody had told me that beforehand. I hope a future booking here goes better.
