I had a very pleasant stay at Ubud Hotel & Cottages in Malang. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and I liked the peaceful atmosphere, garden, and relaxing pool. The staff were friendly and helpful, and it’s conveniently close to the city center. I’d highly recommend staying here when visiting Malang.

After a tiring trip from Bromo, we went straight to check in, but the whole stay was a letdown. We waited 30 minutes to check in, then got a smelly room that looked nothing like the Agoda photos. It was three floors down and there was no lift, which was a pain after the journey. We asked reception three or four times to change rooms and were turned down each time. They only agreed after we insisted and said we wanted to speak to the manager. We got into the next room around 3:30 PM, then discovered the water heater didn’t work. Nobody answered when we called reception, so we had to walk up and down the stairs another two or three times to get help. A technician asked us to wait 30 minutes, but the heater still wasn’t fixed by 6:00 PM. We went back to reception and were moved again, only to find the new room had no air conditioning. After more than three hours of changing rooms, waiting, and going back and forth, we were finally given yet another room. The service was poor, maintenance lacking, room descriptions misleading, and complaints handled very unprofessionally. This was the worst hotel experience ever. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The resort has such a nice ambience and staff, with a bit of a Bali-style charisma. Irene served me at breakfast and was very polite and friendly, taking great care of me. I’m a regular here and will come again.

It’s a difficult place to review. The vibe is beautiful and the place feels magical, but it isn’t being looked after. It really needs an upgrade and some investment.

The Nasi Goreng Betutu was so nice, and the service was smooth and kind. Thanks for the hospitality. This could become a remarkable hotel.
