Hotel Minahasa

I can’t see why this gets 5-star reviews. The rooms felt unsanitary and had a strong damp and cigarette smell. The staff were friendly, but if you want a clean hotel, this isn’t the place.

The staff were great, breakfast was very good, and the place was quiet with a good location. There are lots of stairs if that’s difficult for you. The hotel used to be very good, and they’re doing a major renovation of the pool now. The rooms still need paint and repairs, and the bathroom fan needs cleaning.

At 450k a night, the room was cheap, but it was one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in during my 7 years here, even for this price range. The bathroom smelled of mildew, several lights didn’t work, and the hot water pot was still dirty with coffee from a previous guest. They wouldn’t give us extra towels for the kids, so four of us had to share two towels. They also didn’t provide extra bottles of water.

The service was great and the rooms were clean. They’re also much bigger than rooms you’d get for about the same price elsewhere in the city. This is my new favorite budget hotel in Manado, and I’ll definitely stay again.
