Aryaduta Medan

I was at the hotel for a seminar on Dec 11, after arriving on Dec 10, 2025. After a short morning walk, I went to the crowded restaurant and eventually found a table. I enjoyed the lontong Medan, then noticed people queuing for coffee latte and wanted one too. The barista served a Chinese woman two cups with a smile, then helped a Chinese man who had arrived beside me. I'd already been standing there for two minutes, and only after several more minutes did he ask, “What do you want, mam?” I told him I wouldn't take one, since I'd been waiting first and he hadn't asked me. Please train staff to treat everyone equally, Mr manager, whoever leads this hotel. I pay the same rate as the other guests. I often write detailed reviews based on my hotel experiences, and I'm sorry to leave an unhappy one. My Google reviews are generally good, but this morning your staff made me feel humiliated as a person. Maybe it was because I wasn't wearing makeup and had casual exercise clothes on. I hope this five star hotel improves its service, since that's what you're selling. Good luck.

The rooms are big, with nothing to complain about there. The location is fairly strategic, and there's traditional Medan noodle nearby if you want to try local food. Service has been okay so far, but nobody showed me to my room, and the way there was a bit complicated. I also asked for a shaver and waited what felt like an eternity.

Check-in and check-out were smooth, and it felt like a family friendly place to stay. The room was spacious but had an old fashioned style. Breakfast was okay, though it could be better. The stay was alright overall, but there's room to improve.

The staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely hospitable, and being right in the city centre is a plus. The room, though, felt far below what I'd expect from a 5-star hotel, closer to 2-star standards. It looked dated, and the AC left the room stuffy even at its lowest setting, while the blower was loud. The plug points weren't international, and using the hairdryer was uncomfortable because I had to keep pressing it to make it work. The blanket was thin, and the shower nearly flooded because the drain wasn't working properly. The hotel has a lot to improve before it lives up to its 5-star rating.
