Hotel Deli River

We picked the Family Junior Suite for New Year's Eve. It's a new room, opened about eight months ago, with a modern vintage look, some ethnic details, and teak wood. It sleeps four, which worked well for our family. The pool was another favorite, set between a botanical garden and a river, with a fountain statue we had fun playing around. We also enjoyed the food, especially the pan-seared chicken steak and dame blanche. The coffee, made with Simonelli machines, was impressive too. The trouble came at 3 a.m., when a pipe under the kitchen sink leaked and flooded the floor. My husband woke up and spotted it. I felt lightheaded and went to the security station for help after calling reception and getting no answer. It seemed the guard was the only staff member available then. We waited over an hour for engineering to arrive and fix the tap. For a resort this large, having no 24-hour engineering staff seems like a serious safety gap, especially if something worse happens and only one security person is around. At checkout around noon, we raised it with the manager. They had ignored my earlier WhatsApp messages, but the next day they gave us a discount on the room as compensation. Management should take safety procedures seriously going forward. There was also a strange, continuous gong-like noise from the water tank during our stay. The manager didn't seem to know about it, though the security guard did, which was funny. Earplugs were provided in the room and came in handy. I'm not sure whether they were meant for that noise or something else. Even with those issues, I'd recommend the place to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable quick break near the city.
