The first floor at Lewi House has the parking area and reception, with the rooms starting on the second floor. I found it clean and quiet, and it’s not too far from central Medan. Just watch out for the shower height. It was too low for me, and I bumped my head the first time I used it.

A simple, clean place to stay. There are up to four flights of stairs, so be ready to carry your suitcases up. The receptionists don’t speak much English. Have Google Translate ready, and don’t count on getting tips about things to do or places to eat nearby.

I booked the cheapest room through Airbnb as a solo traveler, and it felt comparable to an average three-star hotel. The room was clean and quiet, with a comfortable bed, a decent amount of space, a wardrobe, a work desk, and an attached toilet. It’s just a one-minute walk from the main road, Gajah Mada road. There’s high-speed Wi-Fi, a local-channel LCD TV, air conditioning, a towel, and a toothbrush and toothpaste. They clean the room daily and leave complimentary 600 ml mineral water. A 24-hour convenience store is also only a minute away. The host and staff were welcoming and provided good service. I’d happily stay again. Highly recommended for backpackers.

The crew were kind and helpful, and the rate was affordable. I enjoyed my two-night stay. My room was clean, with new wooden-style furniture. It’s conveniently located near Gajah Mada road and Medan Fair Plaza.

There’s a water dispenser on every floor, and food and drink prices are reasonable. Online taxis can reach the place, and it’s easy to find. The drawback is that there’s no lift, just stairs up to the fourth floor.
