Hotel O Papakoel

The no-refund policy left us with no options when all the rooms were full. I wish I'd never booked this place. It was filthy, clearly not cleaned before check-in, and badly maintained. The toilet was a disaster, the bed looked like it was falling apart, and there were ants on the bed and table. The receptionist didn't know anything. The floor was dirty, and the pillows and sheets smelled so bad we couldn't sleep. A no-star hotel out in the middle of nowhere on Mount Sibayak would be better. I won't post toilet pictures because it was too disgusting. DON'T BOOK HERE. IT'S A SCAM.

There’s plenty to eat just down the road, and it’s nice to wander around and watch the neighborhood go by. The place sits right in the middle of all the bustle, which was exactly what I was after. The staff were friendly and really helpful, and for the price it was amazing.

You get decent amenities for a cheap stay. Go for a third-floor room if you want the view, though the stairs are steep and there’s no elevator, so the first floor is better if stairs are hard for you. Rain sometimes gets into the hallway, but the rooms themselves don’t leak, and staff mop it up right away.

The price is super low, which makes this a good deal despite the old bathroom not always working. The room and beds were clean.
