There’s plenty to eat nearby, including Warkop Aceh, and the road in front goes straight past Indomaret and Alfamart. Parking is spacious, both in front and behind. God willing, it’s safe as long as you lock up and follow the hotel rules. The inn has changed its name to RedDoorz and isn’t Oyo anymore. It’s cheap and cheerful, with okay hot water. The employees are all nice and very helpful, and I enjoyed the place. The rooms could use some repairs and repainting, though. The drawers, mattresses, and other furnishings should be replaced to make them look better. Thank you.

I’d suggest finding a different budget place, especially if you might arrive late. Pick somewhere with a 24-hour front desk, such as OYO or Reddoorz. I came to Medan for the first time on vacation during Eid al-Fitr 2022, after an 18-hour drive from PKU, and reached the hotel at 1 a.m. The gate was locked, though the owner or security guard was still there. He wouldn’t let me in and sarcastically asked, “Do you know what time you’re supposed to check in?” I asked about my booking, but he stayed quiet and kept the gate shut. Accommodations shouldn’t decide when guests are allowed to arrive, since people can be delayed for all sorts of reasons. It was a shocking, disappointing experience. I’m not trying to be racist, but it was my first visit to Medan and I did encounter the tough personality people talk about. I can’t say that all Medan residents are like that.
