The location is handy, right in the heart of Medan, and the bathroom has a water heater. But the room my friend and I got was shabby and musty, almost like a warehouse. The sheets looked unchanged, there was dust and staining, and we saw cockroaches. Rats were coming from the bathroom drain. The kitchen was also very dirty and smelled damp. The room could be nice, but it doesn’t seem to be looked after. The caretaker seemed to be an elderly owner and was very unfriendly. Keep this in mind if you’re thinking of staying here.

For families coming from outside the city, I’d recommend this place. It’s a sharia-style boarding house, so it isn’t for a sex-focused staycation. In a residential area, it feels safe and quiet, and the neighbors are caring. The manager is friendly and humble, almost like family. Rooms can fit 3-4 people depending on the room, with one or two beds, plus a water heater, AC, TV, and wardrobe. Motorbike parking is available, the door stays open 24 hours, and there’s a place to cook. It also works well as monthly accommodation for workers in Medan.
