The Batik Hotel

The breakfast was delicious, and the staff gave good service. The hotel is affordable and clean. It's outside the city centre, but close to restaurants, bika ambon and legit cake shops, a shopping mall, and a karaoke place. I'd recommend it to everyone.

A free water dispenser on every floor and a smooth, fast Wi-Fi connection were handy. The room was small, but clean and looked after, and the toilet was clean too. Breakfast is simple. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the rate felt fair. I'd recommend it for a short break in Medan.

My room had a refrigerator, but it hadn't been cleaned properly and there was stale food inside. Breakfast seemed to come with every room, though it was just one option, rice with soto, and the snacks weren't replenished. The juice tasted like watered-down syrup. The hotel is on a well-known road in Medan, though not right in the city centre, and sits in a row of shop houses. It doesn't face the main road because a Batik store does. Guests have to use a card for the single lift, which is restricted to them. Rooms vary, but they all seem to lack windows or terraces. I hope they improve these things.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, but the bed and pillows were extremely hard. The room size was fine, although the interior felt quite old. When I showered, water pooled in the bathroom and spilled into the bedroom even with the bathroom door shut.
