Munduk Cabins by Desa Hay

I felt completely safe traveling solo during my visit from May 19-25, 2026. The staff were so warm and welcoming, and since I had a month in Bali, they shared other places I could visit. Walking around felt a bit like being in a huge treehouse. The pool had a beautiful, peaceful view, and when the weather allowed, they could bring happy hour drinks there. Each day there was also tea and a different local snack. My cabana suite was spotless, with green views all around from inside. On a clear day I could see the water from the patio. It had the things I'd requested, plus a teapot and loose tea for whenever I wanted a cup. There were snacks too, along with a jar of coco and another of marshmallows. The cabana was a comfy place to read, and my room worked perfectly for daily in-house massages. I may have skipped just one day 😉 The restaurant food was very good and included vegetarian options. There was a great range of activities and excursions as well. I'll definitely be back!

The cabins are beautifully designed, with natural materials, stylish comfortable furnishings, and incredible jungle views. Ours felt like a cozy modern hideaway, and even came with custom made playlists. The room amenities and well-kept shared spaces showed thoughtful attention to detail. We first booked Munduk Cabins because we'd loved the service at their sister property, Desa Hay in Canggu, and we're glad we did. The high standards carried over and felt even better in this mountain setting. Service was warm, genuinely friendly, and attentive without hovering, from arrival to departure. The restaurant and room service food were delicious, with fresh local ingredients and elevated Indonesian or Western flavors. It's a quiet retreat and a great base for nearby waterfalls, far from mass tourism.

We spent two nights at Munduk Cabins and found it a peaceful, refreshing break in nature. The quiet setting had fresh mountain air and lovely scenery, and made it easy to slow down. Our cabin was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. Waking to the cool air and sounds of nature was a highlight, as was just sitting and taking in the view. The shared area has a pool, hot tub, and fireplace. Staff lit the fire in the evening, making it a warm place to unwind after exploring in the cool mountain weather. Everyone was welcoming, helpful, and attentive while giving us privacy. It was a memorable stay, and we'd gladly return. A good pick for a quiet mountain escape.

The cabin had everything we needed, and the windows and balcony opened onto an incredible view of nature. It was so quiet, and there were plenty of little surprises we enjoyed. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, with top-notch service. I'm usually not keen on hotel restaurants, but the food here was out of this world, probably the best Balinese food we had on our trip.
