The valley view is the highlight, and there are plenty of butterflies around too. Weekdays tend to be quiet, which made the natural setting especially peaceful. Getting here from Yogyakarta means a long drive on an adventurous road, but I found it worth the trip. There are photo spots as well, and sturdy shoes could come in handy.

The setting is high up, so reaching it by car takes some effort. I’d aim for sunrise or sunset for the views. Entry was very cheap on a weekday, though I can’t remember the exact price. There’s a large, attractive mosque for prayer, plus a couple of Waroeng with reasonably priced food. Bring coffee and snacks to enjoy the scenery; there’s a coffee shop on site, but it was closed when we visited. Glamping and camping rentals are also available.

The view for New Year’s was amazing, and so was the number of tokay gecko's on the deck catching flying ants around the light. The bathroom beneath the glamping cabin was clean. I had trouble sleeping in that setting, and felt itchy afterward. Maybe I was just imagining it, or maybe it was simply being outdoors.

From here, the city lights at night look like stars twinkling below. We enjoyed the view over dinner and drinks at one of the nearby restaurants. The prices were high, but I thought the experience was worth it.

The cliffside camping area has several semi-permanent dome tents overlooking the valley, a great option if you’re after a breathtaking view. The toilets were decent, though they could be maintained better.
