Cave Beach Bungalow

We went without water for the whole night and were left thirsty, since nobody from the staff was around after 9 pm. The rooms were filthy: after walking a few steps, our feet were black. They use seawater in the bathroom, so a shower hardly seemed worth taking. The place is overpriced, and the breakfast kitchen looked so bad in the video that we paid for it but then gave up. It’s also in a dark area, reached by a road full of deep holes that felt dangerous. When we arrived, staff came in ahead of us and sprayed deodorant in the room. I understood the reason later. I don’t understand the good reviews. Maybe people who like this place are used to living this way. In Indonesia, the government should be checking places like this; with such poor basic hygiene, it should be closed.

Agus made sure we were looked after throughout our five nights at Cave Beach bungalow, and the bed was exceptionally good. Nusa Penida calls for some kind of transport, and Agus arranged rides at a fair price, plus a great snorkelling trip with his company, "Elite". Wayan and Wayan on the staff were lovely too. A very good 3* place.

The east side felt much more local and less touristy, with welcoming people and a great atmosphere. I wish we'd stayed there longer instead of spending time on the west side. Our ocean view room was simple but had everything we needed, and the sunrises were beautiful. The staff were so friendly. Ask for coconuts, they’re free! Really enjoyed our time here.

We had to ask several times for fresh towels and toilet paper, and the bathroom was filthy with visible mold. Breakfast was poor too, without even tea or coffee. Though we'd booked an ocean-view room, we were first given a standard one. After we complained, they moved us, but only after shifting other guests' belongings without asking them. That was very unprofessional, and the whole stay left us extremely unhappy.
