Jingga Bungalow Penida

The room itself was fine, but the bathroom smelled and I’ve never seen so many mosquitoes in one room. The noise made the stay absolutely dreadful, with hardly any chance to sleep. The nearby temple/mosque starts at 5 in the morning, and cocks kept in horribly small cages start up at the same time and keep going for hours. Dogs bark and howl from around 10 pm until 1 am, and at midnight we had to ask the staff to quiet their own dog. There are lots of dogs around, and their owners let them out at night. This may once have been a peaceful place, but it isn’t anymore. We wish we’d stayed elsewhere.

Mr Jingga was a fantastic host and helped arrange a motorbike for our stay and onward travel. He’s a dog lover too, which was lovely to see. The chalets are comfortable, clean, spacious, and have good AC and comfy beds. Although the accommodation is in the main harbour area of Nusa Penida, it’s just outside the busy part, with no busy roads nearby. It made a great base for our few days on the island. We’d absolutely stay again if we return to Nusa Penida.

Jingga was always around to help and took us to a delicious local restaurant. We easily arranged manta ray tours and transport to our next stop through him. He’s an amazing guy, and the guesthouse has a very clean, wholesome feel. It’s close to the port, about a 20-minute walk. Thanks for a great stay. We’d definitely return and recommend it especially for couples or groups.

The owner is really nice and wants you to have a good time. We had a great stay for three nights at this lovely place in Nusa Penida, then came back three weeks later for another two nights. It can be a bit hard to reach, especially when it’s wet, and there are mosquitoes, but each room has a net and a smelly thing, so they weren’t a problem for us.
