Sunset Hill Penida Resort

It’s a relaxing place to stay in Nusa Penida, with roomy cottages, a nice pool looking out toward the sunrise, and a lovely outdoor bathroom. The AC works well, and although there are mosquitoes, the nets over the beds make it comfortable. Restaurants and shops are a bit far away, but renting a motorbike makes getting there very convenient. Highly recommended.

Good value for money. The room has lots of amenities, including a kettle, music booth, fridge, and hair dryer. The complex and pool area are nice, and the road has been redone, so it’s completely fine to reach by scooter.

A2 was comfortable and a really unusual layout. You come in at ground level through the bathroom, where the toilet is the first thing you see, then head upstairs to the bedroom and balcony with mountain and ocean views. Only two rooms have this exact outlook. A third similar two-storey unit faces the pool, and the other rooms are on the ground floor. The open-air bathroom has some privacy and weather issues. The shower and toilet are mostly screened from nearby balconies, but stepping out of the shower toward the stairs puts you in view from one balcony. From the stairs, you can also be seen from reception, the pool, and the neighboring unit, where two chairs face your staircase. When it rains, the toilet is exposed because the stairs above don't provide full cover. There's also a small roof leak outside the room that management should fix, and water from the air conditioner drips onto the stairs and can land on you while you're on the toilet. The inside door locks were annoying sliding-door latches, and the main one was broken when I arrived, though it was fixed straight away. They don't feel very secure: a butter knife could be slipped through the gap to lift the latch on either the bathroom or bedroom door from outside. As a man I was fine, but I might have felt nervous as a solo woman. From outside, the room is secured with a latch and padlock. There's about 15 minutes of hot water, so a couple would need to space out showers if both want one. The pool is open 7am-9pm. Staff aren't available after 9pm, though there's a WhatsApp number for problems. I liked the free water refill station at reception, a good way to cut down on plastic. The price was very low for a room of this quality, the aircon was cold, the safe worked, and the pool was clean. My stay was very comfortable and I'd come back, though I hope management sorts out those few issues for future guests.

I found it really peaceful here. The sounds people mention were just nature, not traffic or other guests. The pool was lovely, and the staff were accommodating, especially Jim at reception and the women who cleaned our room each day. The road to the hotel is new and easy to ride, unlike some other reviews I'd read. Loved the stay.
