The Mesare Resort

Scooters were in good condition, though a bit expensive compared with what I’ve seen elsewhere in Indonesia. The service was very good and so was the food, although I got balibelly on the first day after eating only food from the hotel. For us, this jungle hideaway was just right. It’s about 30 min from any side of the island, and there isn’t much within walking distance.

I wouldn’t recommend this resort. It’s very secluded and far from everything, with not even a single restaurant nearby. Agoda recommended it when we booked online, but trust me, don’t book. It’s in the middle of Nusa Penida, and if you rent a bike, getting there after sunset feels super unsafe. We booked it, then went back to the Ped area where the hotels and cafes are. The rooms are also built in a way that makes it easy for insects to get inside.

What made our honeymoon at Mesare Resort special was the people. Everyone was warm from the moment we arrived, and nothing we asked for seemed like a hassle. A big thank you to Shery, Made, our patient private driver every day, Sutaya, Puspa, Krisna, Wayan Suardana, Sudiarta, Ningsih, Ayu, Nadia, Indra, Luh Reanty, and Ela. The staff are the reason we now recommend the resort. It’s a peaceful place to switch off. After a hot day in town, coming back to the cool, dewy forest felt lovely. Our room was comfortable, clean, and had a nice feel, though there were gecko droppings. Staff said they’re working on managing that, and wildlife is expected in the jungle. A quiet getaway with genuine hospitality.

We stayed in a villa, and it was lovely, just like the bungalows, which were outstanding too. The resort feels like a real paradise, tucked away in the jungle, so it’s a peaceful place to rest. There’s a beautiful pool and plenty of services, including massages, yoga, cooking classes, car and motorbike rental, and tours. Thanks to ayu, pupsa, suardana, madi, and the rest of the staff.
