New House Padang

We came across New House by chance and were glad we did. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the staff are friendly. They also offer really useful services for getting to the Mentawais and around the area. There’s a pool table on the first floor, which made downtime fun. A great place to stay in Padang.

I come back here every year before heading to the Mentawai islands, and I’ll be back again. It’s close to the beach and some good restaurants, and the rooms are clean and air-conditioned. The English-speaking staff are super friendly and always ready to help. Cheers.

We felt at home here for two nights, which was wonderful after two years of traveling. The common area is cozy, with a pool table, nice decor, cool music, and a great kitchen guests can use. The rooms are cool, the bathroom was good, and the guys working there are really nice. It’s easy to find good street food and a food court nearby, and the beach is close too. Pasar Raya is about a 15-minute walk away. The place was the cleanest homestay we’ve stayed in. The young guy in charge seemed to clean every five minutes. We’ve been traveling in Indonesia for four months, and this is in our top two. One downside: I’d do laundry somewhere else. It costs more than elsewhere, and our clothes still smelled afterward. I highly recommend staying here. Probably the best place in Padang. Thanks, Bruno and your team, for welcoming us!

The staff were very nice and helpful, and the prices were quite reasonable. There’s a bicycle shop across the street that’s useful for touring cyclists, along with a travel agency. Walk about five minutes and you’ll find plenty of restaurants and grocery stores. The beds are good, the bathroom has a shower and Western toilet, and there are pleasant shared spaces with a pool table and a kitchen.
