Grand Mutiara Hotel

The hotel is conveniently right in front of the beach and close to the main gate, and having a convenience store next door is a plus. I came for work, but the WiFi didn’t reach my room, so I used my own data. The pool photo is misleading: the pool is tiny and shallow, really meant for kids.

Breakfast was great, with lots of choices, and the service was also great. But the room and closet smelled. I’d suggest staying outside the holiday period. The pool is so small and shallow I wouldn’t really call it a pool, it’s for children. I think this may be temporary, and they need time to expand it.

We felt very welcome and well looked after, and we’re looking forward to staying here again. The local staff were friendly, and the Indonesian management was very professional. They even run their own racing team! We spent two weeks here during the busy holiday season. Although the hotel and town were especially busy on weekends, our room was serviced completely every day, with fresh sheets and towels and the floors swept. The room was beautiful and huge, with a perfect sea view, a fridge, flatscreen, and a big bathroom. It had everything you usually miss while traveling in Asia unless you’re a millionaire.

The room was clean, but I had to call room service because the AC wasn’t working. The food was okay, though I’d have liked more variety.
