Hotel O Guest House Parangtritis

The room was roomy and the AC got cold, with good service at an affordable price. The beach is about a five-minute walk away. There was no TV or mirror, and parking the car was difficult. I’d still say it’s fairly recommendable.

I was disappointed with this stay. On Pegi-Pegi, I booked a room advertised with AC, hot water, TV, and Wi-Fi for Rp 58,000 (fifty-eight thousand rupiah). At check-in, the manager said that rate was for a room without AC, and an AC room would cost another Rp 50,000 (fifty thousand rupiah), bringing it to Rp 100,000 (one hundred thousand rupiah). The room didn’t match what I expected: the TV had no channels, there was no Wi-Fi, the hot water didn’t work, and the AC behaved unpredictably. It had to be switched on by hand, too, since the remote wasn’t used. The beach is nearby, though there’s no beach view. This is sharia-compliant accommodation, but nobody checked at check-in whether I was staying with my legal partner.

I paid and booked through the app, and the booking was non-refundable. When I got there, the innkeeper said the app price was too low and asked for more: 150 for AC or 80 without it. I’d already been told the day before, so I had no chance to cancel. The service was bad, and the room wasn’t okay at all, so I decided not to stay. The innkeeper said I could get a refund through the chat app, but that didn’t work either. The worst experience ever.

The hotel is close to the beach, and the AC and TV worked normally, unlike what some other reviews said. But I was charged above the app rate because it was the weekend. I’d booked well ahead, and they only told me one day before, leaving me no way to cancel. The bathroom door was broken and wouldn’t shut.
