The Peak Home

It felt so homey. I stayed one night in the family suite, and the room was really spacious. I'll be back on my next trip to Lembang.

We enjoyed the open-air bar downstairs, where the breeze and weather made sitting outside pleasant. The service was quick and friendly, and the prices seemed fair for a resort. Still, given the name, I expected more from the top-floor views and dining. A street lunch cost about as much as one drink and was nearly as filling and good.

The view over Lembang is good, and there's a decent wine selection. The food was alright, though the cocktails were mediocre at best. It's quiet on weekdays but can get packed on weekends. The place feels a bit old now, and when I visited in the rain, the roof leaked in a couple of spots.

We had a reservation for 5pm, but it took me 30 minutes to find the place. When we arrived, the room hadn't been cleaned, as if nobody knew we were coming. The carpet was still rolled up by the wall, and there was a very strong carbol smell. The whole place looked run-down and nothing like the pictures, so my kids hated it. We needed to keep our toddler's milk in the fridge, but it was filthy, with old food still inside. The bathroom was awful too, with poop stuck beside the closet that I had to rinse off myself. The pool was dirty, and neither I nor my son wanted the kids swimming in it. On top of all that, a rat in the roof kept scratching and kept me awake. I don't understand why everyone loves this place. It was our worst experience ever.
