Baobab Safari Resort

The animals are what keep making each visit special. Seeing zebras or other animals right outside the room in the morning still feels magical, and the kids get to observe, learn, and enjoy nature as part of an adventure. There’s plenty to keep them busy, while adults can relax in the peaceful surroundings. This was our fourth visit to Baobab Safari Resort, and we keep coming back even though we don't usually return to the same place so often. The staff have always been kind and attentive, and the facilities are clean and well maintained. Each stay feels familiar but still fresh. It’s become one of “our places,” and a meaningful family getaway worth visiting, maybe more than once, like us.

The food at both breakfast and dinner was tasty, with lots of dishes to choose from. Just plan your budget before coming, because everything is costly. This was my second visit, and my children love the place, the animal interactions, and the landscape. Everything is arranged beautifully. The mini zoo is the main attraction. You can take photos with a ponytail, snake, baby alligator, or giraffe, and each activity has its own ticket price. Even-numbered rooms have a view of the mini zoo from the balcony, and the resort offers buffet dinner. Getting there is straightforward: the road is in decent shape and wide enough for two private cars. It’s 10-15 minutes from the Surabaya-Malang main road, and Google Maps should get you there. Pay extra attention if you're driving an automatic, since the route sometimes has steep uphill sections.

The room was clean, and the safari is huge, with activities like animal feeding, shows, Aqualand, and a water park. I expected the entrance fee to cover the buggy rides between stations, since the place is so large and hilly, but each ride costs extra. Even photos with birds, elephants, or penguins have a separate charge. Having a ‘full board safari’ ticket would make it easier to visit without worrying about all the extra fees. That was the main thing that frustrated me.
