One Degree Sunset Hill Leisure

The view and pool are the only good parts. WiFi is absolutely trash, and the place is next to the main road where trucks struggle up and down the hill. The rooms are moldy. The air conditioning is programmed to switch off in the evening, so sleeping in the hot room is almost impossible. At that hour, no one at reception can help, just a security guard who sleeps and gets angry when woken. Staff know the air con is set up this way but don’t do anything, so every night you wake around 4 am or earlier because it’s too hot. Can’t recommend it. There are definitely better places in the area.

Yuni was especially helpful, and the staff were all incredibly friendly. The pool is gorgeous, a perfect sunset spot, and towels are provided. Breakfast is simple but satisfying, the room stayed cool, and the bathroom could use a little upgrade. The hostel is a bit out of town, so a scooter rental or Grab is useful. There’s a budget gym, restaurant, and supermarket within a 10-minute walk. I had a wonderful stay at One Degree and definitely recommend it!

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and let us use a shared bathroom to shower after a beach day, even though we’d already checked out. We stayed a few nights in a private room that was fine, but it was beside a busy road and got a lot of traffic noise. The bathroom was okay, though the shower pressure wasn’t very strong. Overall, it was a decent stay.

The room smelled awful, and we quickly realized it was full of mold and felt really unhealthy. We told the staff, but they just smiled, said they knew, and told us they couldn’t offer another room. We’d booked several nights and left as soon as we could after the first one. When we checked out, they assured us we’d get a refund for the remaining nights after the weekend, probably just to get us to leave without discussing it. Nothing ever came back. We messaged and called, but were ignored. Don’t stay here if your health matters to you.
