Nirwana Hotel

The service was very good, and the breakfast was great for a hotel at this level. The pool is good too, though some of it is unavailable in the afternoons because local swimming lessons take place then. It’s a good family hotel, but the rooms feel a little dated and the Wi-Fi coverage isn’t very good.

My first visit here was for a two-night stay. I arrived at about 12.15 am Sunday morning. The room was somewhat small but comfortable, and the air conditioning worked very well. Breakfast was satisfactory, and the staff provided very good service.

The standard room was tidy and clean, though not very spacious. The air conditioner gets quite cold, but because the indoor unit doesn’t seem to be positioned well, it takes a while for the room to cool fully. Breakfast has a decent range, including a delicious traditional soto tauto. There’s a large swimming pool as well as a children’s pool, and plenty of car parking, so it works well for a large group. Nirwana hotel is a fairly good three-star option in Pekalongan. It’s centrally located, and the nightly rates are reasonably affordable, around 300-500 thousand rupiah.

The staff were very helpful. I booked through Traveloka without realizing the room was for smoking, and they helped switch me to a non-smoking one when I checked in. The hotel is as good as the national chain hotels.
