Capital O 1583 Mutiara Merdeka Hotel

We booked five rooms for a short trip with the extended family. The room was old but reasonably clean, and the food was just so-so. The pool was okay, with a kids' section and slide as well as an adult section 1.5-2 meters deep. Please clean the floor in the kids' pool. It's so slippery! My niece kept slipping and nearly drowned, swallowing a lot of water even though it only came up to her chest. It was a pretty traumatic experience.

The breakfast had plenty of choices and was satisfying. It's an old-style luxury four-star hotel, with a big room and most things working fine except the refrigerator. When I visited, nobody was at the swimming pool reception desk, so I couldn't tell whether guests could get towels for swimming or had to bring their own.

There's an Indomaret connected to the hotel lobby, and it's near a gas station and an ATM. The room design is old, but the wooden floors make it cozy and warm on rainy days. There's also a spa behind the lobby, though it seemed dark and spooky to me.

The restaurant has lots of tasty dishes. This is a long-running hotel in Pekanbaru, and I'd say it was one of the first pretentious hotels built in town by a respected entrepreneur.
