Paying extra for an omelette didn’t help much when the coffee had no milk, there was no butter or cheese, and the fresh orange juice we ordered was watered down even though it cost 35000. The bed felt cheap, the air conditioning could be better, and the shower head was broken. One stay was enough for me. I wouldn’t come back.

The rooms are on the small side, but that didn’t bother me for a transit stop. At 300,000 with breakfast included, it was a good deal. The room was clean and the staff professional.

The food options at both the rooftop restaurant and the main-floor café covered Indonesian and Western dishes, which worked well for us. We spent four nights at the Alvina during our month of travel in Indonesia, and the staff were especially helpful with our vegetarian diet and my husband’s nut allergy. Our Junior suite was very spacious, with a kettle, fridge, king-size bed, sofa, large shower, plenty of counter space, and a snack basket. We slept comfortably every night, thanks to the bed and pillows. We had a wonderful stay.

We only stayed one night, but the room was spacious and clean, and we had a nice view of the city. The staff were friendly.

There are homes, business centres, and restaurants within walking distance, and the hotel sits in the Megaland complex, about a 5-10 minute drive from the city centre. It’s a modern budget option in Pematang Siantar, with a ground-floor café, meeting room, and rooftop restaurant. The rate was affordable, and the simple buffet breakfast was free for guests. The food tasted good, with rice and dishes, fried rice and noodles, toast, porridge, sliced fruit, traditional cakes, tea, and coffee. My Standard Room felt cramped, and the bed was only so-so for comfort. It had air conditioning, a TV, phone, room service, mineral water, hot and cold shower water, and free WiFi. Booking through an online travel app or by WhatsApp both seemed possible. The reservation staff replied quickly and were helpful, and the hotel staff’s hospitality was decent. Parking was along the roadside in front.
