The Menjangan snorkeling trip was a highlight, and the mangrove behind the property is lovely for a short walk at sunset, if you can put up with mosquitoes. But swimming through so much plastic was overwhelming. I came alone for three nights in a dorm and had planned to stay longer. I chose it over nearby guesthouses at a similar price because it seemed to offer lots of activities and facilities. Looking back, I regret that a bit. Apart from paddleboarding, most of those things weren’t actually on-site. Many are at the twin hotel, so you need a shuttle that isn’t always convenient or reliable. Yoga was often canceled despite good weather, and construction around the property affects the atmosphere. The restaurant music was loud even when there weren’t many guests. One thing solo travelers should know: reception isn’t staffed around the clock. I had a medical issue at night and couldn’t get help on-site at first. A friend had to contact the hotel and arrange support for me. The staff were great once we reached them, and I’m very grateful, but having nobody there overnight can be stressful in an emergency. It’s a beautiful place with a lot of potential, and the staff and food were outstanding. It still feels unfinished, though, with some important infrastructure, clear information, and safety support missing.

The Metamorfosa experience was one of the best parts of my stay and made it feel extra special. I had a clean, comfortable private room, and the quiet setting and beautiful surroundings were perfect for unwinding. Everyone on staff was genuinely kind and welcoming. Thanks for everything. I meant to stay three days and ended up here for eight. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and getting a booking sorted was easy. They found me a motorbike within minutes. The Wi-Fi was fast and strong, and there’s a kitchen where you can cook and keep food in the fridge. Loved this place. 🤩🤩

That private pool room was incredible, such a relaxing spot to unwind 🤍. The shared kitchen was handy, and I liked having a cozy movie room and games like darts around too. It’s a peaceful, laid-back place with good facilities, while the common areas still make it fun and social. Amazing stay at Mangroove Bay, highly recommend ✨

After reading so many glowing reviews, arriving at Mangroove Hostel was a bit of a shock. There’s still a lot of construction, so it doesn’t feel cozy, and the place doesn’t have much of a vibe. A lot of the amenities and pretty photos are actually from the sister hotel. The food also seems pricey for what you get.
