The Karu Cabin by AGATA

I’m grateful to the wonderful staff and to Komang Januar, the owner, for looking after me and generously sharing their land, knowledge, and time. I spent a week at Karu Cabin during the wet season, and the stay was breathtaking, beyond anything I expected. Whether you’re just passing through for a night or want a place to rest and swim in freshwater streams flowing down from Mt Batukaru, it’s a wonderful choice. Butterflies and dragonflies, jungle, and rice paddies are all around. I can’t wait to come back.

The cabin stays cool even without AC, and we didn’t need it at night. Everything was clean, well kept, and still felt new. There was also hardly any scooter noise, just birds, bugs, and other sounds of nature. Surprisingly, I wasn’t bitten by a mosquito once. We stayed in one of the deeper forest cabins. I think there are only three. The huge glass windows made the room feel like a high definition screen showing the whole jungle, except it was real, and the balcony let us step right into the surroundings. Karu Cabins is spectacular, beautiful, peaceful, and unlike anywhere I’ve stayed. It’s also great for dramatic photos and videos, with the dense green jungle as a backdrop. I loved the little touches in the cabin, especially the big mosquito net over the bed and the private patio ❤️ The staff were so kind, and I’d love to return. It’s a real gem, tucked into the forest but still easy to reach.

Falling asleep in the dark with vegetation all around, then waking to that same view, was incredibly soothing. Such a beautiful place. Thank you 🙏
