Padi Villa Canggu

The way this was handled ruined my stay. In the middle of the night, the ceiling over my balcony collapsed, dropping debris onto the balcony and my belongings. It damaged sports equipment I had left on the terrace. The manager moved me to another room, saying there was no other option, but rainwater flooded its floor. I was told it needed daily cleaning because of water getting in, and when it rained again I had to wipe the floor myself. They offered only a 5% discount on a meal. It took a lot of discussion to arrange an early departure and get a refund for the unused nights. I eventually managed it, but received nothing for the damaged belongings.

The villas and grounds are lovely and well kept, and the villa itself was ideal, along with the food and general atmosphere. The problem was the service when I arrived. This was the only part of my Bali trip I had a complaint about. I’m posting here because, for some reason, I couldn’t leave a review in the booking.com app. I’d prepaid more than a month ahead for a garden-view villa. Instead, they walked me past the villa I’d booked and put me in a small room with no view, since a huge tree covered the whole balcony. I pointed out that I’d paid for a villa with a garden view, shown in the listing with a picture of the villa itself. They said they’d check. I got the feeling they already knew, since they’d printed out my booking when I arrived. At the main desk, I was told the villa I’d booked was worth more than I’d paid, so they’d put me in a room matching that amount. I explained that I’d paid the price shown for the room on booking.com, but they wouldn’t let me have the villa unless I paid another £80. I’d already paid £80 on booking.com. After a 24-hour journey from the UK, I was exhausted and just wanted the space and comfort I’d expected, so I paid. I was disappointed for my entire stay. Even after paying double, the villa was still listed online at the original price I’d paid. I felt set up and won’t stay there again or recommend it. I wouldn’t put myself through that a second time.

We got a free upgrade from the balcony rooms because of certain circumstances, and we were really grateful for their generosity and hospitality. Those balcony rooms weren’t great. Our villa room was spacious, clean, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The property isn’t in the best condition, but we got the good rest and sleep we needed on this trip. The staff always greeted us with a smile and were quick to help. We appreciated it!

The villa was lovely, spacious, and comfortable, and it was quite cheap for what we got. We relaxed here for three nights. Our shower had a problem that they couldn’t fix during our stay. The gym also got unexpectedly loud at different times of day and evening, which was a bit annoying after our 2am Mount Batur sunrise trek.
