Neo Gajah Mada, Pontianak Hotel

The rooftop city view was a highlight, and it was a nice place to relax or sing karaoke with friends and colleagues. The rooms were clean and modern, and Neo Hotel Gajahmada Pontianak is centrally located. I arrived at 2 a.m. with a lot of expedition luggage from my biodiversity expedition, but the staff were genuinely warm and helpful. They made check-in easy for our very large group. A reliable, enjoyable stay for travelers. I highly recommend it!🤩

I can only speak to the restaurant since my boyfriend was the one staying at the hotel. I had dinner there for a first date, and the food and service were delicious. Thank you, it meant a lot to us. Mr Rehan also captured our photos really well.

The staff were very friendly and attentive, even though they only knew a few words of English. We got by with Google Translate. The location is good, though you can hear the usual street noise in Pontianak. Cleanliness was okay for Kalimantan, but the mirrors and windows hadn't been cleaned. For the price, it's a solid-value hotel and a good choice in Pontianak. The shower water had a strong, unpleasant smell. Management seems to leave the staff with no flexibility, so book everything online and in advance. When we extended our stay, Booking.com offered 420k IDR, better than the 480k IDR at the front desk. We'd have been happy to save the business the 20% booking.com fee, but the desk couldn't adjust the price by even one Rupiah. The buffet breakfast at the 11th floor rooftop bar looked good. Booking.com offered it for 80k for two, while they asked 200k on site, so we went somewhere else. Again, no flexibility. Edit: I'm pretty sure they generate their review replies with AI. It makes me wonder whether they value customer feedback for future improvements.

The location is convenient, at the "end" of Jl Gajah Mada, with most town attractions within walking distance. The room had basic amenities, including a kettle and minibar. We booked through Agoda but were initially given a room that didn't match the booking; they corrected it on the second day. The pillow smelled of body odor, but they replaced it when we asked. The TV had very low resolution, and the room couldn't be fully lit because it only had ambient lighting.
