Seamount Hotel

The location is amazing, parking was easy, and we had a mountain view from the room. The room itself was clean, but the staff didn't explain things fully and weren't very engaged with guests. The TV was difficult to turn on, and the bathroom drain didn't work properly. Nobody even asked how our stay had been when we checked out. Staff need to be more attentive and helpful.

The pool is huge, clean, and warm enough for a swim even late at night or early in the morning. Staff will provide lights if you want to swim at night, and you can use it whenever you like. I love this hotel and will definitely come back to Amed. The room was clean and felt homey, and the nasi goreng tasted great too. There's a billiard table in the cafeteria. Ask the cafe staff to set it up, since they usually cover it when nobody's playing.

Two days before we arrived, after we'd already paid for a king room, my partner got a message saying there were no rooms available and they were happy to refund us. A refund at that point wouldn't solve the problem: with only two days' notice, every other place had raised its prices and become unaffordable. We had to accept a twin room with the two beds pushed together. Their bases were concreted to the floor, so they put a picnic table between them, leaving a foot of concrete on either side of the bed. We still paid the full king-room price, which was more than the price for single beds, and they offered no compensation or anything for our three-hour trip there after giving us a room far below what we paid for. Service at both the desk and restaurant was average. The restaurant food showed a lack of care, and now we understand the reviews. Our poolside pizza was like cardboard. Don't eat here. Walk to the main road, turn right, and there are a few warungs down the road. I lived in Vanuatu for four years and worked as a sous chef at a five-star hotel in west oz, so I understand basic training in a developing country after working with and training local Ni-vans in Vanuatu. This place needs work. I'd like to come back to Amed one day with a bigger group, but we'll stay somewhere else. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this place needs it!

A very good value place in the heart of Amed. The rooms are new, clean, and quiet, and the staff are friendly. There's a large pool beside the sea and a beautiful, well-kept garden. The location is very good.
