I've stayed here twice, once in a room upstairs from the lobby and once in one of the separate wooden rooms. The two rooms had different layouts and shapes. Breakfast is served in an open-air restaurant in the garden. The choices are limited but decent for the morning, with eggs, bread, juice, fruit, carbs, protein, and coffee. I think it's the best hotel in Ruteng.

Ruteng is the next holiday stop after Labuan Bajo. It's only about 130 km away, but the winding drive takes around four hours. The weather is cool, and this hotel works well for families. We also found the restaurant serves tasty food at affordable prices.

We were a group of 12 Malaysians, and we can vouch for the good food here. John, the Malaysian owner, serves very nice, authentic Malaysian Chinese dishes. It was lovely to meet him and his wife too.

We ate at the restaurant and the food was below average, all fried and spicy, and the juices tasted stale. The toilet wasn't working. When I asked a staff member where it was, she pointed toward an exit from the property. Later, when a white person asked for the toilet, that same woman had another staff member take him in the opposite direction. Horrible experience.

I asked for a room quote a month ago and only got a reply today. That's pathetic service. It's a shame, because the hotel looks nice and is in a good location, but it's poorly run.
