At RedDoorz Plus at Hotel Ulin Samarinda, the noise made it hard to sleep. Housekeeping trolleys were loud early in the morning, and conversations near the rooms and reception carried on through the day and late at night. Guests smoking around the shared areas and hanging around the entrance also left me feeling uncomfortable and unsafe as a woman. The room wasn’t properly cleaned, and staff came in wearing shoes from outside. There was so much strong perfume sprayed on the bedding that it disturbed my sleep. The Wi-Fi kept dropping during my Zoom work meetings, and staff didn’t reply when I tried to reach them on WhatsApp. The only time anyone seemed attentive was during the room check at checkout. The service and basic hospitality standards were unacceptable, and the stay was deeply disappointing.

The design is chic, and there’s a café and spacious parking. It’s a pleasant spot to stay and rest, with an elevator too. I haven’t tried the food because it was Ramadan, so I can’t comment on the taste. Service was good enough for me. They don’t provide sandals for free, but you can buy them at reception.
