Mango Lodge

The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Since we had to leave at 7.30 on our last morning, they packed breakfast for us and arranged a really friendly driver for the 30-minute trip to the airport. The pool was great, and we could borrow towels from reception for the beach, about a 5-10 minute walk away. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious and included. The location worked well, near the beach and a few restaurants. We liked Naughty Surfer Coffee and Eatery, and the rooftop restaurant at Mango Lodge is worth checking out too. We had a great four-night stay and would definitely recommend it.

The part that troubles me most is that the hotel knew the neighbour’s dog had been aggressive before, yet guests still weren’t warned. Reception admitted this had happened repeatedly and that they were scared of the dog themselves. Even when another guest walked past during my conversation with staff, they had no idea there could be a danger. There were no advisories or steps to protect people. I asked twice to speak with the manager, but they were unavailable both times, including on the day I left. This started when the dog attacked me outside the property as I was leaving. I was injured and needed medical attention. Reception answered my email politely, but nothing meaningful was done. When I returned, I asked them to talk to the neighbour and alert other guests. No one had spoken to him by later that evening, so I went myself. He called it “bad luck” and said it was “not his problem.” I don’t blame the reception staff personally. They were polite, but poor management left them without support or authority to act. It’s unacceptable for the hotel to know about a repeated, dangerous situation and offer neither protection nor even a basic warning. Guests should be able to feel safe, respected, and valued, and I didn’t feel that here. After many wonderful trips around Indonesia and Asia, this was my first truly negative experience, and I feel I should warn other travellers. I strongly recommend avoiding a stay until the problem is properly resolved. A day trip from Kuta is a much better choice than risking your safety at this hotel.

We had a peaceful, pleasant stay here with our two kids. The beach is close, and the place is clean. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and great with the kids. A very charming resort.

The staff were so friendly and greeted us every day. There’s a big pool and a good breakfast. Sometimes a cat from next door comes by the hotel, and I loved that so much. ❤️❤️❤️
