RedDoorz Plus @ Madukoro Raya Semarang

There’s plenty of parking, though the lot gets very hot since it has no cover. The place is tucked between shophouses, so you wouldn’t realize it’s a hotel, and there’s a ground-floor souvenir shop selling presto milkfish. The facilities were generally complete, clean, and good, but the bathroom let things down. The shower was hard to adjust and the warm water sometimes didn’t come through. The toilet smelled a little, there was nowhere to hang the bidet shower closet, and the washbasin water came out in a very weak stream with no warm water either. They provide clothes racks, but there’s no cupboard or place to hang clothes, so you have to fold them.

The room felt fairly spacious for the price, and the TV and AC both worked well. There’s an elevator, which saves you hauling things up the stairs, and the rooms were clean. It’s close to the toll road, with a shabby chic feel. GoFood has plenty of food options, so getting a meal is easy. The bathroom could use more frequent cleaning, though, since there was a lot of limescale and mold on the walls. A few chairs would help too, so you don’t have to eat on the bed and risk getting it dirty. All in all, fine for the price.

In room 501, there were clothes left in the hotel drawer. The bathroom door had no handle, and the mattress was sagging with lots of yellow stains.

The design is really cool, and I got a room on the top floor. They could still accommodate an early morning check-in. The AC worked well, the hot water was fine, and the bathroom was okay. The room was clean, though the floor felt a bit sticky. There were no hotel slippers, but that was okay. I’d give the bed 3 out of 5. At 150 thousand rupiah through Agoda, it’s a great option for a staycation or short trip. 🤩🤌🏻🤌🏻
