KHAS Semarang Hotel

Breakfast was average, with mostly Indonesian dishes and not much variety. I spotted small gnats around the food, and the strawberries on one dessert didn’t look fresh. A few pastries were okay. The staff didn’t seem to react to any of it, and the constant staring at breakfast made me uncomfortable. We stayed one night. The location is good, but although the room seemed okay at first, it felt worn and not well maintained. It wasn’t really dirty, but there were stains, slightly dirty windows, and some tired furniture. The worst part was the morning noise: around 6 AM, kids were screaming and running right outside the door. The walls are so thin it felt like it was happening in the room, and nobody from staff did anything. Fine for a short stay, but I wouldn’t return.

There are lots of 24/7 coffee shops and street food nearby, including delicious sate Padang. The hotel is right in the city center, very affordable, and has spacious, clean, fairly quiet rooms.

I booked and paid for four nights, but left after just one because I couldn’t take it anymore. The hotel looked okay on Agoda, but the reality was much worse than I expected. By the next morning I’d developed a skin allergy and literally ran away from the place to protect myself.

KHAS Semarang has mastered the art of making you expect nothing and still feel disappointed. You’d think a basic 3-star hotel in central Semarang could at least provide running water, but my bathroom tap was useless. No water, no explanation. The front desk did nothing with total confidence. They gave me no timeline or solution and made no effort to move me to another room, just looked at me blankly as if to say, “Good luck, sir.” For a hotel that calls itself comfortable, they’re certainly comfortable ignoring guests. Paying for facilities that don’t exist and service that avoids helping you? YOU'VE FOUND THE PERFRCT MATCH.
