Manon Boutique Hotel Kota Lama Semarang

New and clean, with great service and very friendly staff. The location works perfectly for a one-night stop, close to the train station and Kota Lama city center. Special thanks to receptionist Mr. Pive.

I arrived at 9 p.m. after asking on WhatsApp for a quiet room. They suggested a Grand Deluxe with an “exclusive view,” which looked straight at a wall with tiny windows. The sheets were stained, the street noise was loud, and the welcome felt cold. Then renovation started at 10 p.m., with hammering and sanding going on. Morning staff did try to make things right, but the whole stay was a disaster. The “exclusive view” and the noise and dirt came with plenty of sarcasm. If that’s your thing, go ahead. Otherwise, run.

The service was great from the security valet, front office, restaurant, and housekeeping. The room was clean, quiet, spacious enough, and had a decent view. It was a good fit for me and my family on my first visit, and I’d definitely come back to Semarang. The location is strategic, near Semarang Tawang train station and Kota Tua, where there are lots of restaurants and tenants, especially at night and on weekends.

The room decor was sleek and ambient, and the hotel is beautiful, with lots of details that feel carefully considered. For the price, the amenities are superb. The water refill jug was awkward to use because it wouldn’t fit in the dispenser, so it took two hands, but that’s a small nitpick. I’d absolutely recommend it and will book here again on my next Semarang trip.
