The noise was another problem: there was no soundproofing, so music outside felt like it was playing in the room. I was shown several other rooms, but each had the same poor condition, which suggests the problem is across the property. The rooms and bathrooms were dirty and yellowed, with black mold beneath the air-conditioning. Maintenance and hygiene were extremely poor. After years working as a hotel manager, I think this falls below basic hospitality standards. It's overpriced and misleadingly advertised as four stars. Avoid it.

We felt comfortable and at home here. Kiki, Jay, Dicky, and all the other staff were friendly and helpful. Nice hotel.

The area is quiet and feels fine to walk around at night, with markets, ATMs and some pretty beaches nearby. The main attractions are a 1-2 hour drive away, which isn't ideal by scooter, though manageable. For getting a motorbike, ask the security guy at the entrance about where to rent one. He'll call someone and hand over the phone, then they'll bring the scooter to the hotel for a good price. I wouldn't book the private boat tours through them. We slept well here, which had been hard for us elsewhere in Indonesia. We were ill for our first two nights, and the comfy beds, working AC and room service were a lifesaver. There was also a water dispenser by our room. In the bathroom, the shower door wouldn't shut properly, so water covered the floor. Breakfast was okay and had something for everyone, but apart from the eggs there wasn't much to keep you full. I'd recommend staying.

It's not far from Mataram city, and other restaurants are within walking distance. The hotel itself is nice, with a big, clean, comfortable room and a swimming pool. We ate at the hotel restaurant too, the food was good and prices seemed reasonable, about the same as nearby places.
