Grand Allison Hotel

With restaurants and shops nearby and a central spot for getting around, the Grand Allison Hotel is a convenient base for the area. The rooms were clean and had what we needed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I’d recommend staying here if you’re visiting.

The rooms are a good size, and the hotel is surprisingly quiet despite being near the airport. The shower leaked across the bathroom, though. They also provide just one key per room, which makes it awkward if one person wants to swim while the other goes shopping.

The staff at reception were quick and helpful when I couldn't find the air conditioner remote. The AC was very cold, and they sorted out the issue by cutting or breaking some wires installed inside the cupboard, which I wasn't worried about. I'd stayed here more than once because it's one of the better hotels in Sentani, but the WiFi was terrible on every stay. It barely worked on the second floor, and the phone signal was out of coverage too. It felt like being in the middle of the jungle with no connection, and I wanted to get out as soon as possible. I can't live without internet. The room rates are overpriced as well.

The room was just okay, and the staff weren't very helpful. I waited 20 minutes for a room. Cellular reception was poor, and the WiFi failed most of the time. Best of the worst, I guess.
