Kamariska Hostel by ZUZU

The lobby still looks nice, but the rooms don't. The AC only worked as a fan, and the air throughout the place felt very bad, with mold and high humidity. We booked a double room because of the good reviews and short airport distance, but the blankets and towels were in very bad condition, so we used our own sleeping bag and towel. This place was probably one of the pandemic's victims. It really needs a remake. I'm sure it could improve, but for us this was one of the worst nights we've ever had in a hostel.

There’s no escalator, so if you have heavy luggage, ask for a lower floor when booking and make sure it’s confirmed. The hostel is reachable by online transport, which makes ordering food easy. It’s also near a convenience store, something like Mart, and a laundry service. A good option if you’re after a simple hostel with a shared dining room, a fridge, and some instant food for sale. The service and hospitality are good.

There’s a kitchen by the lobby where you can make instant noodles or hot coffee. The lobby WiFi was good, though it was slow in the room. They don’t serve food and drinks, but you can get something right in front of the hotel. The room was clean, the AC worked well, and they provided a towel, dental kit, shampoo, and soap. Good price for a good place to stay.

The hostel has colorful decorations and a British theme, with 17 rooms across two floors and no elevator. It's in a local village near Surabaya airport. The low price and location make it a decent stop for a night in transit.
