Hotel Melamun

We had a great stay, especially because the staff were so polite, kind and friendly, and the atmosphere was cool and laid back. The restaurant across from the property was really good, and the dolphin boat tour is just a two-minute walk away. The rooms, breakfast and location aren’t the best, with the hotel about 3 km outside the center, but we’d recommend it if you’re happy with simple living and modest expectations.

The team at Melamun made this a really relaxed, pleasant stay. I’ve travelled extensively, and I can honestly say I haven’t experienced a more welcoming staff as a group. Everyone was cheerful and pleasant. The grounds are kept up daily, there’s a big pool with a few sun loungers, and the rooms are spacious and well equipped, with great air conditioning and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was good, though the choices were limited. The property is generally in good shape, but could use a little maintenance. The shower bases need a thorough cleaning, and the towels could be much fresher.

The premises were beautiful, and I liked the little alley leading to the room. The hotel is in a great spot, with plenty of food nearby that I reached by bike in a few minutes. It was clean, and the staff cleaned very thoroughly, but they kept peeking into our room around 10 am as if they wanted us to leave so they could clean sooner. That made it hard to relax. The room had an old-fashioned style. Breakfast was very basic, and nearby hotels had better options. The breakfast staff seemed inexperienced and spoke very little English. I also found the nearly transparent bathroom door uncomfortable. I could see my partner using the toilet from the bed, so we each left the room when the other needed it. Honestly, that wasn’t the kind of intimacy I wanted. It was enjoyable enough for one night.

On my first trip to Lovina, I stayed here with friends and would happily come back to this hotel in Bali. The pool was my favorite part: it’s fresh water, always pleasant for a swim in the heat, and right outside when you step out. The rooms were beautiful, the grounds clean and well maintained, and there are some really good local family restaurants nearby. The staff were incredible and sweet, always checking if we needed anything or wanted our rooms cleaned. Loved it.
